Astoria is a pretty popular area in Queens. It is known for its location and proximity to just about any type of food you would like to try. Also for having some of the best hookah lounges. As I get back to the food that Astoria has to offer as you venture from one block to another you can find everything from Colombian to Thai to middle eastern. I recently this past weekend had the pleasure to try one of the more known Mediterranean restaurants offering Greek food. Taverna Kyclades has two locations and I went to the bayside one. From the outside it looks inviting and a nice spot to stop and enjoy a meal. With staying true to the culture, it shows it's blue and white decor. It screams of the Greece culture and breezy and rustic decor. We opted to sit outside as it was such a beautiful day. We ordered Sykotini and it was very refreshing cocktail.
Greek food is one of my most favored by far. So for our main courses we ordered their Greek salad ( fresh and tasty). As well, we had to try the octopus and not only once but twice! It was perfectly cooked and flavor was savory. Along side with fresh potatoes and oysters, which are always delicious!
Overall Taverna Kyclades Astoria is a great restaurant if you are craving Greek food! They also have another location in Bayside! Cannot wait to go back and have more of that octopus!
